Personal Data
Legislative Decree No. 196 of June 30, 2003 regulates the processing of personal data. Personal data means any information relating to a natural or legal person, entity, or association (hereinafter "the data subject") that allows the unique identification, either directly or indirectly, of the data subject. This law generally requires the consent of the data subject for such processing, with some specific exceptions. The law establishes the figure of the Data Protection Authority, a collegial body responsible for the protection of subjects with regard to the processing of personal data. It is also provided that the data subject be given appropriate information regarding the contents of the law, particularly concerning their rights; such information has been summarized in this notice.
Rights of the Data Subject
Article 7 of Legislative Decree No. 196 of June 30, 2003 grants the data subject specific rights. In particular, the data subject may obtain confirmation from the data controller as to whether personal data concerning them exist and that such data be made available in an intelligible form. The data subject may also request to know the origin of the data, as well as the logic and purposes on which the processing is based; to obtain the deletion, anonymization, or blocking of data processed unlawfully, as well as the updating, correction, or, where there is interest, integration of the data; to object, for legitimate reasons, to the processing itself.
